So, I’ve been counting down the months and weeks. Now it’s merely a couple of days since I leave for Vancouver, BC. Canada. Still can hardly believe that I’ll be going to Canada on vacation.
Twenty years back I have lived behind the iron curtain and we dreamt about visiting these “exotic” places. Now we just book a flight and go there. It’s a strange world we live in, isn’t it? Constantly changing.

A friend of mine once said: “Nothing endures but change.” So true.

A while back I discovered a nice feature on Flickr where you can place your photos on a map if they don’t have geo coordinates in their EXIF meta data. Someone created a Flash application called Trippermap, so you can include a Flash in your own website with all your geo-tagged photos from Flickr.
As I’m into Silverlight now I was wondering if someone had already done the same thing in Silverlight or if I should start my own app.

Wir alle haben es kommen sehen, nur wenige haben dagegen gekämpft. Was ich persönlich in Deutschland für unmöglich gehalten habe, ist nun auch durch den Bundesrat bestätigt worden. In Deutschland sollen alle deutschen Piloten (außer Luftsportler) geZÜPt werden.

Die Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung (kurz ZÜP) nach Luftsicherheitsgesetz (LuftSiG) muß nun alle zwei Jahre vom Piloten selbst beantragt und gezahlt werden. Die Sache ist hier: selbst beantragt. Klingt eigentlich nicht weiter tragisch, oder?

Das Problem an der Sache zeigt sich dem Interessierten erst, wenn man mal etwas genauer liest:

Im Rahmen der Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung erfolgt eine Abfrage bei den Polizeivollzugs- und Verfassungsschutzbehörden der Länder, beim Bundeszentralregister, bei ausländischen Betroffenen auch beim Ausländerzentralregister, sowie im Einzelfall beim Bundeskriminalamt, Zollkriminalamt, dem Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, dem Bundesnachrichtendienst, dem Militärischen Abschirmdienst, der Bundesbeauftragten für die Unterlagen des Staatssicherheitsdienstes der ehemaligen Deutschen Demokratischen Republik und ggf. den Ausländerbehörden (§ 7 Abs. 3 Satz 1 LuftSiG) sowie den Strafverfolgungsbehörden (§ 7 Abs. 4 LuftSiG).

Das Ganze erfolgt ohne eine Schuldvermutung und ist nur deshalb auf eigenen Antrag durchzuführen, da ansonsten das Datenschutzgesetzt rigoros greifen würde und eine Auskunft aller Behörden unmöglich wäre. Laut Strafgesetzt ist eine solche Auskunftswut nicht ein mal bei Großkriminellen möglich. Aber bei Privatpiloten. Ohne Schuldvermutung!

Wer sich gegen ein solches Vorgehen der Behörden wehrt, indem er einfach keinen Antrag stellt oder sogar dagegen klagt, bekommt im einfachsten Fall seine Lizenz entzogen (oder widerrufen), im schlimmsten Falle drohen sogar Zwangsgelder!

Am Besten finde ich persönlich aber, das ich den Ausgang meiner Ãœberprüfung nur mit einer Mitteilung “zuverlässig” oder “nicht zuverlässig” bekomme, noch nicht einmal warum ich als unzuverlässig eingestuft wurde, da die Grüde hierfür höchstwahrscheinlich als geheim eingestuft sind. Daher kann ich auch nur sehr begrenzt Rechtsmittel anwenden, um den Vorgang formell (nicht inhaltlich!) von einem Gericht prüfen zu lassen. Wo leben wir hier eigentlich???

Nach meinem Rechtsverstand klingt obiges Vorgehen nach “Nötigung” und sogar “Erpressung einer Aussage”, welches, wenn durch einen Amtsträger begangen, zu erheblichen Freiheitsstrafen führt. Nur leider unternimmt die Staatsanwaltschaft nichts bei einer Anzeige. Warum auch? Ist ja alles gesetztlich geregelt. Und Gesetze sind ja per se immer richtig, oder?

Ich für mich habe jedenfalls beschlossen, meinen PPL nicht in Deutschland zu machen, sonder in den USA und dort sowohl die amerikanische als auch die britische Lizenz zu erwerben, dann bleibt mir dieser ganze “Spass” erspart. Wäre ich allerdings devon betroffen, würde ich den Weg vieler Leidensgenossen wählen und sehr dafür kämpfen! Ich sage nur “wehret den Anfängen”, denn wer hindert unsere Politiker daran, sowas auch für Autofahrer einzuführen?

Gedankenexperiment: “Größte Gefahren durch Muslime”

Sehr geehrter Herr Ministerpräsident Koch,

stünde in einem Beschluss des Bundesrates “Nach einhelliger Expertenmeinung gehen die größten Gefahren von den Muslimen aus.” dann wäre – berechtigterweise – die Empörung nicht nur bei den Betroffenen, sondern im ganzen Land und in den Medien groß. Noch unvorstellbarer wäre eine Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung aller Muslime, die von diesen “freiwillig” beantragt und bezahlt werden muss. Wer die Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung aufgrund von verfassungsrechtlichen Bedenken verweigert, weil er seine bürgerlichen Grundrechte nicht aufgeben will, der wird abgeschoben. Das gilt natürlich nur für die Muslime mit deutschem Pass. Kompletter Unfug?

Wenn Sie in der aktuellen Bundesrat Drucksache 520/1/06, S. 3 oben “Privatpiloten” durch “Muslimen” ersetzen, dann erhalten Sie das fiktive, diffamierende und diskriminierende Zitat oben. Dass von den deutschen Privatpiloten “die größten Gefahren” ausgehen sollen, ist leider kein Gedankenexperiment, sondern steht schwarz auf weiß im Bundesrat Beschluss vom vergangenen Freitag. Die weiteren Punkte meines Gedankenexperiments sind ebenfalls – übertragen auf die Privatpiloten – traurige Wirklichkeit, wobei das Analogon der “Abschiebung” der “Widerruf der Pilotenlizenz” ist und das Analogon zum “deutschen Pass” die “deutsche Pilotenlizenz”. Ausländer dürfen ja “ungeZÃœPt” den deutschen Luftraum befliegen.

Um an dieser Stelle sachlich weiterzukommen – wir Privatpiloten reagieren eben nicht so wie manche Muslime, wenn sie sich vom Papst oder von Zeichnungen beleidigt fühlen – bitte ich Sie höflichst um Aufklärung:

(1) Wer sind die in der Bundesrat Drucksache erwähnten Experten?
(2) Was genau ist deren (einhellige) Meinung?
(3) Wie wird diese einhellige Meinung im Detail begründet?

Ãœbrigens: Ich habe mich schon vor einigen Monaten entschlossen, die ZÃœP komplett zu verweigern. Mein Anwalt und ich sind uns sehr sicher, dass spätestens das Bundesverfassungsgericht die ZÃœP “kassieren” wird, weil sie klar gegen unser Grundgesetz verstößt. (In diesem Fall würde ohne jeglichen Sicherheitsverlust auch ein gutes Stück Bürokratie abgebaut.) Zunächst einmal rechne ich mit dem Widerruf meiner Pilotenlizenz durch das RP Darmstadt im Laufe der kommenden Woche. Für Rückfragen und weitere Informationen stehe ich gerne zur Verfügung!

On an airliner: 

1. The roominess of it all.
2. The food.
3. The idle time while waiting / standing in the aisle.
4. Duty-free / Tax-free shopping (yes, I almost always get myself a bottle of Whiskey on my journey back home)
5. Old in-flight entertainment.
6. The comforting feeling of being in complete control.
7. Adjustable air nozzles.
8. Watching someone attempt to close the overhead bin at least 15 times before giving up and letting the attendant deal with it.
9. Some idiot closing the overhead bin whilst empty and pretending it’s all packed up! 
10. Ear-popping fun.
11. Enjoying the quality of public transport.
12. Quality reflection time.
13. Fumes.

So this is why I want to do it myself:

1. Planning the flight yourself.
2. Starting up the engine. (You have to feel that yourself!)
3. Freedom.
4. Enjoying the view (and not seeing only the clouds below).
5. The mere fun of it.
6. Pulling 3+ Gs while turning final.
7. The feeling in your stomach while flaring and settling the plane on the runway. (And the looks of the passenger).

As I look outside the window I just realized that the winter is gone and was replaced by spring. This must have been done by the One.

Thinking back on how I started with all this IT stuff, back in my early days, about 15 years ago… Goo’ol time! Back then we had Z80 processors with 64k of RAM, BASIC was a high level programming language. I started programming the hard way, first steps were in BASIC – for about 1 year – and after that I went straight to Assembler. No compilers, just a code table converting the Assembler instructions to plain hex numbers. Performance optimization was done with calculators, simply add the number of CPU cycles needed for a certain part of you code and see if you find a solution which is faster.

Compared to the BASIC code the performance was unbelievable. I think it could even catch up with modern apps because you wouldn’t need as much crap as there is today in the apps. Who knows what the IT world would be like if Novell had been the Microsoft of the 80s. Or IBM. Or Linus Torvalds had been Bill Gates. Never mind.

Looking out to a future 15 years from now, maybe this comic will be reality. I hope not. Not in my airplane. If you click yes, be prepared to be thrown out of the airplane (while up at 35000ft) – no questions asked!
