A couple of weeks ago we had to move all of our apps to a server in Dublin, but the database one of our apps uses remained in Munich. Guess what! Right! About 75% of the time the app died with an error stating that it was unable to connect to the database…
After fiddl’ing and debugging and phoning OTG (out internal IT dep) they tuned something within IIS and all the problems went away..

Well, almost

Now, every morning we have to kick-start the app by using a hack to reconnect it to the DB. This is not how a business app should work, is it? This is where the fun part begins…

My teamleader phoned the OTG helpdesk to open up a ticket to get OTG working on it again… nothing happened for weeks. So my teamleader asked them about the status of the SR a couple of days ago and a huge mail thread looped back to… me!
And the best part is that this only took 4 weeks!
